Leave your worries at the door…

Our homes should be our sanctuary.

A place to leave the worries of the world outside, where we can feel calm, nurtured and renewed. No matter where we live, there are ways to make our environment feel more like ourselves, creating a comfortable sanctuary for ourselves and our family.

We are at our best when we are ourselves.

There are so many aspects of our lives that have become massed produced and impersonal. Whether you have a small or large budget, I encourage you to seek out what makes you feel good. What makes you smile. What represents your beliefs and values. Here are a few examples from some of my clients over the years.

Mia’s new home had a 2-story foyer with a staircase, curving walls, and very little floor space. Needless to say, it was a challenging space to set the tone for the rest of the home. She fell in love with a wall sconce she could place flowers in to hang on the wall. It reminded her of a piece of art that she had seen at one time of a low stone wall with broken and tumbled stone, vines, and flowers. In choosing to start with a piece that made her happy, it was easy to follow that lead and help her enhance the rest of the space.

Family and friends are everything to Carole and Bob. One of their greatest joys is to invite them to visit from Northern Regions during the cold winters. They were trying to redo their plain guest room that really didn’t compliment their vibrant personalities and the rest of their home.

They lived on the water and spent a lot of time outdoors, enjoying their landscaped yard. So, taking a cue from what they loved, I was able to help them create a tropical retreat guest room.

Cheryl wanted to add religious touches to their new home to celebrate their beliefs. One of our special collaborations was to enhance her dining room. We worked together to create the design for an art piece to hang on the difficult asymmetrical wall and a sky mural with all the spiritual elements she loved.
